Labor DAY is for wimps...

So Tim & I decided it was really time to say so long to our 1970 Harvest Gold tile shower and redo our master bathroom. We knew it had a lot of water damage when we moved in almost 6 YEARS AGO, but decided to do the cheap and easy fix of re-caulking and puting down linoleum. So, we started demolition on Labor Day Weekend, -yes I am just blogging this now because we have just finished it this week! Nearly a month of laboring later- we are looking GREAT! One neighbor asked, "How big IS your bathroom?" Alec thought this was a great project!
Give the boy some tools just like Dad, and we're good!

Alec did a lot of work! Now, if he would just clean up his room...

Tim the Tool Man- showing us his skills.

You need to see the dramatic results for yourself:

Though the toilet was kindof fun to have out in the garage, (we got some funny comments about that) I'm so glad to have my own bathroom back!!! Now, Tim, about that other bathroom...

Change a Brewing...

Just thought I'd let ya'll know that
I'm going to be changing my blog address
starting October 1st!
I'm not sure if it will automatically take you there if you type in the old blogspot address, so I'm giving advance warning to all my devoted fans out there!

I decided to go more anonymous- (you will note the lack of last names & places) in favor of going to only private readers, because I like to get the sporadic note from friends that I haven't seen in a long time! If you are in my email address book, I will be sending out an email with my new blog address in it, but if you are not, WRITE ME A COMMENT and I'll let you know! So continue blogging, and move over along with me. All you (benevolent) blog stalkers that only read, but don't leave comments, drop me a line! Love to hear from you.

Helpin' Around the House

Last night my mom watched my kids for a while and said to me,
"I don't know how you get anything done!"
My response was: "I don't!!"
Now, that's not true. I have SO much help around the house.
Since Megan learned how to crawl and climb,
I've barely had to lift a finger!

Megan LOVES the dishwasher! She is the best helper ever.
As soon as she hears it open, she gets so excited and turbo crawls over to help.
She constanstly organizes my drawers for me.
She's really quite quick. You turn your back, and Presto! She's done!

She makes sure I stay current in my magazines. No old issues here!

Megan even washes her own hair! Now that girl is on the ball!
Train 'em young, I say.

The Wonders of Frosting...

For my birthday a couple of months ago, my mother-in-law signed me up for a cake decorating class at Micheals, and bought me the beginner set of tools. My mom always made the coolest birthday cakes when I was growing up, so I've tried to follow in her frosting tracks. I've had fun, so when Wendy offered me this class, I thought it was a great idea!

The first class was fun, though my first cake was not very pretty. It's a good thing my camara was on hiatus, and I got to eat my mistakes! This was my next cake. My sister, Stephanie, was in town, so I dedicated it to her.

Now, I know I've shown my "Grandpa-Zilla" cake and loving replicas of family members recently, but it was awesome!!

I enjoyed the first class so much, I decided I should try the second class. It got into using different icings, and making lots of flowers that turn petrified looking, but somehow were still supposedly edible...

This was my Grand Finale for Course Two. Ta Da!! You can't even tell that I DROPPED MY CAKE IN MICHEAL'S PARKING LOT on my way into class!!! It was terrible! Luckily, the cake was in a covered cake server, and only had the base frosting on. So I just added A LOT more frosting and a bunch of pretty(??) flowers...

Soccer Season

Check out that grin! If you smile, maybe they won't know that you've never played soccer before.... Here's Alec getting ready for his first game. GO BLUE FLAMES!!

I was impressed. Alec kicked the ball some and even scored a goal! Not bad for missing his first two practices- Which was not my fault! After getting the run-around for a couple of days, I finally tracked down the coach The Night Before the first game, and found out that she thought she had left me a message, but we'd never gotten one. Long story short, the region is in chaos, but Alec had a lot of fun!
